The lottery board in Iowa voted on Monday whether to give it’s lottery players the chance to buy MegaMillions lottery tickets and the verdict was unanimously yes which means that they will cross sell both Powerball and MegaMillions tickets giving lottery fans in Iowa the choice of which to play or better still play both!

MegaMillions is now available in 12 states and the Powerball in 30, the odds of hitting the MegaMillions jackpot stand at around 1 in 175 million whereas the odds for winning Powerball’s top prize come in at around 1 in 195 million.

Tickets are due to go on sale on January 31st for the draw on February 2nd and sales are expected to help the Iowa lottery up it’s profits to help the state’s cash-strapped treasury, which has been hit hard by the national recession.
