El Gordo

About El GordoEl Gordo Small

The biggest, the best and the richest lottery is now available for you to play right here online.

El Gordo quite simply means  ‘first prize’  but is affectionately known as ‘the fat one ‘ it is drawn every year in December, this year it is being drawn on the 22nd December.

One of our more popular lotteries, due to the fact that it pays 70% of it’s ticket revenue back to the players as winnings, usually this figure is around the 45% or 50% mark.

Most of the attention is given to the El Gordo Christmas draw but it must be remembered that there are other smaller El Gordo draws throughout the year, all with fantastic prize funds. The El Gordo is not to be confused with El Gordo Le Primitiva, which is another Spanish lottery but has nothing to do with the Christmas draw.

The Christmas draw for 2009 is offering a staggering $3.47 billion in total prizes  and the odds of winning a prize are a very nice 1 in 6, the best odds you will find for any lottery anywhere in the world, there are only 100,000 ticket numbers printed for each draw.

Playing El Gordo

Is different than what you are probably used to, instead of choosing your numbers for each line on a single ticket the El Gordo sells tickets in 10th’s, a full ticket or billett costs £200 so you get to choose how many shares you would like in a ticket. You can however buy a full ticket if you want to!

The Christmas draw is a massive event in Spain, over 98% of the population will have some sort of share in a ticket, and due to to great number of prizes that are given away the draw can take up to 3 hours to complete.

Tickets for the 2009 draw are on sale right now, remember you do not have to live in Spain to play or claim your prize, it is perfectly legal and you keep any winnings 100%. They make great Christmas presents so why give a share of a ticket as a gift! You would be so popular if it turned out to be a winner thats for sure!
