Japan Jumbo

About Japan Jumbo

The year end Japan Jumbo is the biggest and the best of the Japanese lotteries infact it is the second largest lottery in Japan Flagthe world after the Spanish El Gordo.

Japan loves it’s lotteries but this has not always been the case, the first known lottery was way back in the 1600′s but all forms of lottery were banned in 1842 and it remained that way until 1945 when the lottery was reintroduced and proceeds were used to help build the country back up.

Playing Japan Jumbo

Rather like the El Gordo the Japan Jumbo has several draws throughout the year, the Green Jumbo, the Dream Jumbo, the Summer Jumbo, the Autunm Jumbo and the one we are interested in, the Year End Jumbo which of course has the biggest jackpot, in 2003 the lottery was opened up to foreign players.

This year it is being drawn on December 31st 2009 and has a total cash payout of  US$1.03 billion but there is a catch, you only have a limited time to enter, there is only so many tickets available, they are in great demand in Japan and once the tickets are gone they are gone, because of this foreign players do not always get the chance to buy themselves a ticket.

Prize Divisions

The Japan Jumbo is very generous offering a grand total of 74 1st prizes worth US$1.7 million each, 296  2nd prizes of US$854,000 each, lower division prizes amounting to US$518million giving a massive 82 million people a prize, now thats what I call a lottery!
